La nuit heureuse

Bijou, 4 course tasting menu:

.05: Cocktails: G&T; he drank a Campari & soda. The new side of Bijou looks very sleek. I was nervous.
1: Appetizer: four-part seafood amuse with whitefish jalepeno ceviche, seared tuna with tandoori flavours, gulf shrimp with pineapple salsa, and a pan-done sea scallop served on eggplant in tamarind.
2: Soup: striped sea bass done in a wakame soup with baby bok choy.
3: Main: tip steak and braised veal cheek. Honestly, the meat was so tender you could cut it with a spoon. Easily my favourite.
4: Dessert: plum tart with ginger ice cream, and a four-part tasting menu of strawberries: strawberry ice cream, compote, soup, and creme fraiche tart.

I was so full. Everything was so good. They matched the wine with the food for us (thank god), everyone came over to say hello (it made me feel like I was meeting his family, which I guess isn't so far from the truth), they were really nice. We ate, and we talked, and we drank. It was beautiful.

Then we went back to his house, drank champagne, and fooled around. It was wonderful. It was delicious. It must happen again, and soon. I am being suckered into really liking this person. What a great thing.
